{"id":86032,"date":"2019-04-15T13:27:20","date_gmt":"2019-04-15T11:27:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/news\/puntos-limpios-saneamiento-viviendas-madrid\/"},"modified":"2022-12-20T12:30:22","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T11:30:22","slug":"collection-points-home-sanitation-madrid","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/collection-points-home-sanitation-madrid\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrovial Services Renews Special Collection Points and Home Sanitation Operations Service in the City of Madrid"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>The contract includes currently operating\u00a0<strong>16 current municipal Special Collection Point facilities<\/strong>, as well as operating\u00a0<strong>330 weekly locations<\/strong>\u00a0that are currently\u00a0<strong>Mobile Special Collection Points<\/strong>, plus the 20 additional ones offered as evaluation criteria in figures or percentages,\u00a0<strong>coming to a total of 350 locations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The contract also accounts for the operation of 10 current facilities for Area Special Collection Points, 20 additional ones required by the Technical Specifications Sheet, and 20 more offered as evaluation criteria in figures or percentages,\u00a0<strong>coming to a total of 50 facilities.<\/strong>\u00a0It includes sanitation and waste collection from homes and businesses determined by Madrid Health municipal services or the appropriate authorities.<\/p>\n<div class=\"main-article-content-modular\">\n<section class=\"module module-image module-boxed inview--on\">\n<div class=\"module-inner\">\n<div class=\"container\">\n<div class=\"module-inner-2\">\n<div class=\"module-content\">\n<figure class=\"image\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"inview--on\" src=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2019\/04\/puntos-limpios-plaza-mayor-servicios-1920x1440.jpg\" alt=\"Ferrovial renews collection points and home sanitation in Madrid\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<h2><strong>Promoting the use of collection points<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Furthermore, the contract includes a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/projects\/digital-solution-for-reusing-second-hand-objects-revive\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mobile app<\/a>, which is open to residents, that makes collection points available to them for\u00a0<strong>exchanging various objects<\/strong>\u00a0that have come to the end of their useful life for some but may still be useful to others.<\/p>\n<p>It establishes an individual points system that shows the degree of use at collection points.<strong>\u00a0That points system generates some competition\u00a0<\/strong>that will encourage users to donate items that are still in good condition.<\/p>\n<p>When users contribute items or objects that are useful and in good condition, they create a culture of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.ferrovial.com\/en\/2015\/11\/the-circular-economy-the-value-of-waste\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">circular economy<\/a>. To do so, they can\u00a0<strong>post an image<\/strong>\u00a0or\u00a0<strong>a description of the objects<\/strong>so that other users can see their condition and characteristics, reserve them, pick them up, and continue to use them.<\/p>\n<p>The culture of circular economy incentivizes using collection points, and it increases\u00a0<strong>the feeling of cleanliness in the city<\/strong>\u00a0because objects aren\u2019t being left in public walkways. Resident participation is in collaboration with meeting European directives.<\/p>\n<p>The main goal of this system is\u00a0<strong>getting the highest number of citizens possible to use collection points, thereby encouraging the reduction of certain types of leftover waste.\u00a0<\/strong>That leftover waste is the waste from homes that is left after separated waste collection.<\/p>\n<p>This service is adapted to the needs of the city, since\u00a0<strong>it reduces the amount of waste going to landfills,\u00a0<\/strong>promoting<strong>\u00a0reusing objects that are still in good condition<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n        <\/div>\n
