{"id":87269,"date":"2019-04-25T10:28:37","date_gmt":"2019-04-25T08:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=87269"},"modified":"2024-12-12T22:16:25","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T21:16:25","slug":"nte-highway-recognized-improving-mobility-texas","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/nte-highway-recognized-improving-mobility-texas\/","title":{"rendered":"The NTE Highway Is Recognized for 10 Years of Commitment to Improving Mobility in North Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>Among the topics brought up at the summit, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/projects\/autonomus-cars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>self-driving vehicles<\/strong><\/a>,<strong> public transportation<\/strong>, <strong>trains<\/strong>,<strong> aviation<\/strong>, <strong>infrastructure<\/strong>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/highway-to-the-future-cintra-promotes-its-first-managed-lanes-in-texas\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong><em>Managed Lanes<\/em><\/strong><\/a> were particularly noteworthy<strong>. <\/strong>Improvements to mobility over time and how transportation will continue to evolve in the future were also discussed.<\/p>\n<p>At the round tables held during the workshop, participants talked about ways of <strong>&#8220;Connecting People in the \u2018First\u2019 and \u2018Last\u2019 Mile of Transportation;&#8221;<\/strong>; remodeling the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texascentral.com\/\">Texas Central Railway<\/a> high-speed train; and &#8220;Where will we get financing for our highways from in the next decade?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>North Tarrant Express<\/strong> highway received special recognition from the County Commissioner, <strong>Gary Fickes<\/strong>, for having worked on the <em>Managed Lanes<\/em> project from the start. &#8220;In recognition and appreciation of your sponsorship for the past 10 years. Participants talked about the new age of <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Avionics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">avionics<\/a> technology, as well as how it will connect with ground communications and change the way we travel and get the products we buy.<\/p>\n<p>To bring the summit to a close, <strong>Jeff Williams<\/strong>, the mayor of Arlington, and Ambassador <strong>Ron Kirk<\/strong>, <strong>the former mayor of Dallas and U.S. Trade Representative <\/strong>and <strong>a current member of the Texas Central Railway committee<\/strong>, had a discussion in which they praised the concept of <em>Managed Lanes,<\/em> with <strong>Kirk<\/strong> defining them as &#8220;<strong>a speed spot.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"image-section \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n        <figure class=\"image-section__figure\">\n            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/04\/15145225\/robert_hinkle_and_panel.jpg\" title=\"The NTE highway was recognized for its work on the Managed Lanes\" alt=\"The NTE highway was recognized for its work on the Managed Lanes\" class=\"image-section__image\">\n                    <\/figure>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <h2><strong>About <em>Managed Lanes<\/em><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The<em> Managed Lanes<\/em> project offers a solution for congested urban corridors that guarantees they will keep a minimum speed by charging tolls that vary depending on the amount of traffic. They are essentially lanes that are built alongside toll-free lanes that tend to get congested during peak hours, giving users the option to get in those lanes where traffic flow is guaranteed in exchange for being charged a toll, and they therefore lower traffic density in toll-free lanes at the same time.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
