{"id":88729,"date":"2019-06-28T11:17:43","date_gmt":"2019-06-28T09:17:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=88729"},"modified":"2022-12-21T09:06:16","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T08:06:16","slug":"project-s-code-reaches-final-phase-of-development","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/project-s-code-reaches-final-phase-of-development\/","title":{"rendered":"The Railway Research, Development, and Innovation Project S-CODE Successfully Reaches the Final Phase of Development"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>The project, which Ferrovial Agroman participated in, focuses on track elements, a very specific element that also involves significant complexity and costs in construction, operation, and maintenance for railway construction work.<\/p>\n<p>The general aim of S-CODE is investigating, developing, validating, and integrating radically new concepts of track elements that may have the potential to increase capacity, reliability, and security while lowering initial investment costs, as well as those for operation and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>To these ends, <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/the-s-code-rd-project-funded-by-the-european-commission-within-the-framework-of-the-horizon-2020-programme-and-shift2rail-joint-undertaking-officially-begins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S-CODE<\/a> developed radically new technological concepts that can be integrated in such a way as to be combined with the network and give rise to improved performance for track apparatuses based on new concepts of operation (for example, substituting super-fast needles or self-repairing needles)<\/p>\n<p>The project has been divided into three phases:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Phase 1: requirements and initial design \u2013 focusing on understanding critical requirements and restrictions, and developing modular architecture and disruptive operation systems that use technologies from other sectors;<\/li>\n<li>Phase 2: technical development \u2013 detailed modeling and simulations to identify the optimal settings that maximize the performance of track apparatuses;<\/li>\n<li>Phase 3: validation and evaluation \u2013 testing the design concepts and formal evaluation of its performance so that the overall design may continue its development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><strong><u>International Consortium<\/u><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The consortium in development through this work is made up of 8 members, including construction companies, research centers, universities, engineering firms, maintenance companies, and infrastructure operators:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>FERROVIAL AGROMAN SA (SPAIN)<\/li>\n<li>THE UNIVERSITY OF BIRMINGHAM (UNITED KINGDOM)<\/li>\n<li>DT &#8211; V\u00ddHYBK\u00c1RNA A STROJ\u00cdRNA, A.S.
