{"id":89283,"date":"2019-07-27T08:30:09","date_gmt":"2019-07-27T06:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=89283"},"modified":"2022-12-21T08:59:16","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T07:59:16","slug":"ferrovial-services-participates-in-the-european-project-secasol","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/ferrovial-services-participates-in-the-european-project-secasol\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrovial Services Participates in the European Project Secasol on Solar Sludge Drying"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>This program, integrated into the 2014-2020 INTERREG VA Spain-Portugal Cooperation Programme (POCTEP), aims to apply<strong> solar energy<\/strong> to drying sludge from wastewater purification and from leachates household waste treatment.<\/p>\n<p>Moving toward developing new, more sustainable service models, Ferrovial Services has joined the Secasol project with the goal of improving efficiency in the process of <strong>solid waste drying<\/strong> through research and applying cleaner renewable technologies, such as concentrated solar power.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrovial Services offers its knowledge and experience in treating leachates, and in the future, it will equip its facilities to be able to carry out the necessary tests for verifying the use of solar energy as a more sustainable alternative in leachate treatment. As such, the company is collaborating with the Secasol project as an expert partner in waste management, providing the raw materials -leachate &#8211; that come from the waste treatment plant in Villarasa, Huelva.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, this project is expected to <strong>reduce the economic and environmental impact<\/strong> of managing this waste by designing a specific facility to reduce the final volume of leachate by evaporation, which will be done by using a renewable energy source through heat accumulators and exchangers.<\/p>\n<p>Since the project\u2019s start at the initial meeting for partners held in December 2017, the Provincial Council of Huelva has stated that it is complying with the phases set in its programming, which were shared during the aforementioned meeting by representatives from the project\u2019s seven partner entities: Agencia Regional de Energ\u00eda y Ambiente de Algarve (Areal); \u00c1guas do Algarve SA (Ada); National Laboratory of Energy and Geology IP (LNEG); Fundaci\u00f3n Centro de las Nuevas Tecnolog\u00edas del Agua (Centa); Gesamb &#8211; Gesti\u00f3n Ambiental y de Residuos EIM; Ferrovial Services, through Cespa Gesti\u00f3n de Residuos SA; and the Provincial Council of Huelva as a leading partner.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
