This is the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>largest facility<\/span><\/span>\u00a0of this type in Poland and one of the most modern ones in Europe.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Budimex<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0finished works in 2018, then safety and procedures tests were carried out on site. The investment was financed by the Polish Air Navigation Services Agency.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The building houses a tower control room with approach control stations, as well as utility rooms, garages and social facilities. Its total area exceeds 1800 m2. The tower itself is surrounded by a system of internal roads and car parks. The air traffic control level is located 42 m above the ground.<\/p>\n

The structure consists of two main elements. The lower part is a 5-9 metres tall two-storey building with a slab-column structure. The height of the taller section is 45.75 m. The building core has a rectangular cross-section, which serves as vertical support and includes an internal lift shaft and service shafts. The building core stands on a foundation plate which is 1.8 metres thick and measures 17 by 17 metres. The upper part of the core includes horizontal supports, located under the floors of the main part of the tower. The tower is covered with a steel roof.<\/p>\n

The cladding of the tower is an EM-hardened facade made of aluminium composite plate.<\/p>\n

The tower core has a lift shaft with a pit and a shaft head without a machine room, in which an electric lift operates. Moreover, the lift itself is adapted to the requirements of airport rescue teams.<\/p>\n

The net value of the contract amounted to PLN 20.22 million.<\/p>\n

The Katowice tower is an excellent investment in air traffic safety. It will certainly improve air traffic flow and, above all, become a showpiece of the Silesian Province.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
