The Caminos de Madrid<\/em> Awards<\/strong> aim to recognize the work of Civil Engineers<\/strong> for their contribution of new solutions for construction projects. Additionally, they recognize the social prestige of public works<\/strong> by valuing the work of the engineers who work on them.<\/p>\n

Award for Best Municipal Building<\/h2>\n

The City Council of Madrid\u2019s<\/strong> General Directorate of Heritage <\/strong>commissioned Ferrovial Agroman for the renovation and structural consolidation of the historical Beti-Jai Fronton<\/strong> in order to restore the Fronton’s beauty and the conditions needed to open it to the public.<\/p>\n

The abandoned building had not been used for years and was in a state of disrepair, so\u00a0 various restoration works have been carried out. During construction,\u00a0each of the building elements found was analyzed and verified as to whether or not it was an original piece. Of particular note was the discovery of the original tiles from 1894 that came from the\u00a0Gran Tejer\u00eda de Eloy Sili\u00f3<\/a>, which were used to make molds for manufacturing and placement. The award was received on behalf of Ferrovial Agroman by Laura Soler<\/strong>, Head of Building Pathology for the City Council of Madrid at Ferrovial Agroman, and C\u00e9sar Guti\u00e9rrez<\/strong>, Head of Remodelling Construction for the City Council of Madrid at Ferrovial; and on behalf of the City Council: Paloma Sobrini<\/strong>, General Director of Heritage Conservation and Architecture for the City Council of Madrid, and Guillermo de la Calzada Porrero<\/strong>, Head of the Works Department at the Federal Real Estate Conservation Service.<\/p>\n

Award for Best Young Civil Engineer<\/h2>\n

Andrea Mart\u00ednez Maroto has worked at Ferrovial Agroman\u2019s Directorate for Rail since the start of her professional career over ten years ago, where she has gained a wide range of experience and specialization in railway engineering.<\/p>\n

For three years, she has balanced her activity in Spain with the responsibility of being Head of Construction at Ferrovial Agroman in Portugal.<\/p>\n

Her professional experience has equipped her with a thorough vision of all sorts of projects in the railway sector: both infrastructure and superstructure; High-Speed and Conventional Trains; building platforms, laying rails, renovation, and maintenance, in both Spain and Portugal.<\/p>\n

In addition to the Caminos de Madrid<\/em> Award, she has been a finalist at the 2019 European WICE<\/strong> awards (The European Women In Construction & Engineering Awards) in the category of Rail Engineer. Similarly, she was recognized at the Ferrovial Agroman Innovation Awards<\/strong> in 2013 and 2015.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n
