The new EAVE headsets have been well-received by the workforce and are actively reducing risk from noise<\/strong> across two of our sites. The technology attenuates peak noise whilst allowing \u2018pass through\u2019 of voice communication and ambient sounds so the operative is still aware of their environment.\u00a0 Many tasks require good verbal communication between colleagues and in a noisy environment the \u2018pass through\u2019 capability is a distinct advantage.<\/p>\n

Whilst giving personal protection the headset also records the level of noise exposure<\/strong> and reports this to a cloud-based interface.\u00a0 This gives our Health and Safety Team key insight into noise levels in the environment<\/strong> giving them the information they need to act, whether it be to put in place exclusion zones or inspect equipment for any faults that may be causing excessive noise, for example.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n

\n The team should be congratulated for introducing this innovative technology into the Heathrow Q6 project and for recognising that work related health challenges need just as much, if not more, attention and innovative thinking as site safety <\/blockquote>\n\n
