{"id":95599,"date":"2020-05-06T14:48:15","date_gmt":"2020-05-06T12:48:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=95599"},"modified":"2022-12-21T08:53:17","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T07:53:17","slug":"heathrow-community-trust-deploys-95k-for-emergency-covid-19-support","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/heathrow-community-trust-deploys-95k-for-emergency-covid-19-support\/","title":{"rendered":"Heathrow Community Trust deploys \u00a395k for emergency COVID-19 support"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <ul>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">\u00a395,000 in rapid emergency COVID-19 funding is set to be released by the Heathrow Community Trust (HCT), an independent charity funded by Heathrow Airport and supported by its colleagues and partners<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Funding has been released from HCT reserves to help keep vital community services running, including food banks and support services for the isolated and vulnerable<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li1\"><span class=\"s2\">Heathrow continues to provide educational resources to local schools and has redeployed Heathrow Community Rangers to assist with delivering donations to local food banks<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s3\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.heathrowcommunitytrust.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Heathrow Community Trust <span class=\"s4\">(<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s2\">HCT) is granting<b> \u00a395,000 in rapid emergency funding for local community groups responding to COVID-19<\/b>. Funding from HCT reserves \u2013 generated by fundraising efforts from Heathrow colleagues in 2019 \u2013 will be used to support projects including transitioning support services online and equipping the elderly with technology to help stay connected with friends and family.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s2\">Support will be issued to organisations who have a current active HCT-funded project and are providing vital care to the most vulnerable. <\/span><\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"block-quote \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10 block-quote__body\">\n            <blockquote class=\"block-quote__text\" aria-label=\"\">\n                This funding is providing much-needed support to our neighbouring community groups who are working tirelessly to keep local people safe and healthy. It will make such a difference to our doctors and nurses as they support patients in the coming weeks and months            <\/blockquote>\n\n            <footer class=\"block-quote__footer\">\n                                    <p class=\"block-quote__author\" aria-label=\"\">\n                        <span class=\"block-quote__author-name\">Frances Greany<\/span>\n                    <\/p>\n                            <\/footer>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Emergency funding from the Trust is in addition to a number of initiatives exercised by Heathrow and its partners, to support the local community through the global COVID-19 outbreak, including a <b>donation of 6,000 FFP3 respiratory face masks<\/b> to NHS teams. Heathrow Community Rangers have also been redeployed to support some of Heathrow\u2019s local communities, including delivering donations to local food banks, while online educational resources have been made available to schools and parents via the Heathrow website.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">About Heathrow Community Trust (HCT)<\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The HCT was set up in 1996 to improve the quality of life for communities near the airport through education and community projects focused on enhancing people\u2019s skills, aspiration, resilience and employability, as well as improving community green spaces and projects bringing communities together.<\/span><\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
