Heathrow<\/a> has implemented<\/span>\u00a0UV cleaning robots<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>that<\/span>\u00a0use technology to kill viruses and bacteria<\/strong> at night efficiently.\u00a0<\/span>At all e<\/span>scalators<\/span>, the handrails are continually disinfected<\/span>\u00a0with UV handrail technology<\/strong>. In other areas of the\u00a0<\/span>terminals<\/span>, self-cleaning anti-viral wraps are being fitted to various high touch items such as security trays, lift buttons, trolley, and door handles. The<\/span>se wraps function<\/span>\u00a0by coating the surfaces with long-lasting anti-viral protection.<\/span>\u00a0material<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>Also, t<\/span>o\u00a0<\/span>continuously monitor the effectiveness of these new technologies and\u00a0<\/span>provide\u00a0<\/span>inform<\/span>ation to plan these projects across the airport, Heathrow has\u00a0<\/span>100 colleagues to serve as hygiene-technicians<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>These enhanced cleaning measures are in addition to several\u00a0<\/a><\/span>initiatives taken by the airport<\/a> to ensure the well-being and peace of mind of passengers and staff. Some of these measures include<\/span>\u00a0the introduction of Perspex barriers in security areas and in some retailers,\u00a0<\/span>one way<\/span>\u00a0systems as well as touchless services available on Heathrow and airline apps. Moreover, for the first time anywhere outside the US, Apple is\u00a0<\/span>trialling<\/span>\u00a0informative alerts to passengers arriving at Heathrow, directing iOS users to the latest guidance on travelling through the airport.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
