After\u00a0<\/span>o<\/span><\/span>pening<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>traffic<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>early<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Highway<\/span>\u00a0407 East\u00a0<\/span>Phase<\/span>\u00a02\u00a0<\/span>project<\/span>\u00a0in Toronto\u00a0<\/span>is<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>now<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>officially<\/span> complete.<\/span><\/span><\/em><\/p>\n

Blackbird Infrastructure 407 General Partnership and\u00a0<\/span>Blackbird Constructors 407 General Partnership received the<\/span>\u00a0project\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Final<\/span>\u00a0Completion Certificate\u00a0<\/span>on July 31, 2020<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>This<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Design-Build-Finance-Operate-Maintain<\/span>\u202f<\/span>(DBFOM)<\/span>\u202f<\/span>project\u00a0<\/span>has\u00a0<\/span>a contract value of\u00a0<\/span>about<\/span>\u00a0$1.2 billion<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

T<\/span>he Highway 407 East Phase 2 project<\/span>\u202f<\/span>now<\/span>\u202f<\/span>extends<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Highway 407 22<\/span>\u202f<\/span>kilometers<\/span>\u202f<\/span>(13.<\/span>7<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>miles)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>from Oshawa to Highway 35\/115 in Clarington, ON.<\/span>\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0It<\/span>\u202f<\/span>connects<\/span>\u202f<\/span>Highways 401 and 407 East with\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>10-<\/span>kilometer<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>(6<\/span>.<\/span>2<\/span>\u00a0miles)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Highway 418 and overall<\/span>\u202f<\/span>provides<\/span>\u202f<\/span>eight new interchanges, including three freeway-to-freeway connections.<\/span>\u202f\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\n This project was a massive undertaking that will help ease traffic congestion in the Greater Toronto Area and improve the flow of goods, services and people regionally. The project was completed early \u2013 to the benefit of the traveling public \u2013 while still making safety our top priority. Work on the 407 East Phase 2 involved 76 subcontractors and led to the creation of thousands of jobs over a five-year period. <\/blockquote>\n\n
