The application period for Ferrovial’s “Stronger Together”<\/a> programme\u00a0has commenced. Through this initiative, the company and its employees share a commitment to the needs of society and respect for human rights. Under the programme, Ferrovial matches employees’ donations out of their monthly pay packet to support solidarity projects. The programme has benefited more than 120,000 people since its creation in 2005. The programme budget was increased last year by 6.5%, and is expected to be even greater this year.<\/p>\n

The programme is open to Spanish NGOs, and foreign NGOs with a representative office in Spain, whose object includes improving living standards, integrating people in vulnerable situations or developing aid projects in Latin America or Africa in order to combat poverty and exclusion in the framework of the Millennium Development Goals. The deadline for applications is 7 October.<\/p>\n

The procedure for project selection, in which employees participate, is fully transparent: a commission of experts in community action at Ferrovial analyses the applications and shortlists the best projects; then, employees vote to choose one project.<\/p>\n

Support for families at Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Hospital<\/a>\u00a0and a drinking water system in Ethiopia<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the previous edition of “Stronger Together”, Ferrovial signed a cooperation agreement with Sant Joan de D\u00e9u Hospital to provide assistance such as food subsidies, housing, transport, medicine, prostheses and interpretation services for disadvantaged families with children in the hospital. Close to 3,200 people will benefit from this project.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial is also cooperating with ONG RESCATE Internacional <\/a>to build a drinking water system at a school and health centre in Gode (in the Somali region of Ethiopia) and to provide education on health, nutrition and hygiene.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
