Ferrovial<\/a>, in consortium with Acciona, has built a 29.7-kilometer highway that is a continuation of the Pan-American Highway through the city of Chimbote, in northern Peru. The new road will relieve traffic congestion in the municipality and will reduce the time required to complete the route<\/strong> by approximately 65%, from two hours to 40 minutes.<\/p>\n

The project required an investment of 600 million Peruvian sol (142 million euro<\/strong>) and it has been executed in 2 years and 9 months, 3 months ahead of schedule.<\/p>\n

In addition to the main roadway, the project included the construction of ancillary infrastructure such as two bridges, three traffic circles, six underpasses, frontage roads and infrastructure to carry irrigation water from one side of the road to the other. Drones were used during construction to detect areas for improvement, optimize resources, and enhance health and safety.<\/p>\n

As part of this project, Ferrovial and Acciona undertook several initiatives to protect and improve local communities’ living standards and environment.<\/strong> They included a training program for farmers\u00a0 to promote local employability and improve the management of water resources using irrigation technology. During operations, the consortium was responsible for guaranteeing a continuous water supply to ensure crop irrigation and meet farmers’ needs. It also implemented a comprehensive dust control and mitigation plan to avoid harming crops in the area.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial in Peru<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ferrovial has been present in Peru since 2013. Since then, the company has developed important infrastructure projects and, as part of its strategic plan Horizon 24<\/strong>, has implemented to the Peruvian market its commitment to the construction, management and promotion of sustainable infrastructure. Since 2020, Ferrovial has been involved in landmark projects in Peru, such as the construction of the control tower at Jorge Ch\u00e1vez International Airport,<\/a> of Lima’s Peripheral Ring Road and the Chimbote bypass.<\/a><\/p>\n

The company has also contributed to Peruvian society through nine projects under its Social Infrastructure program since 2011. Through this solidarity program, Ferrovial has invested more than 1.3 million euro in Peru to improve access to drinking water and sanitation,<\/a> benefiting more than 29,000 people.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
