{"id":1330,"date":"1998-12-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"1998-12-06T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/press_releases\/cintra-takes-a-stake-airport-management-by-obtaining-the-concession-of-nine-airports-mexico\/"},"modified":"2024-11-20T21:59:36","modified_gmt":"2024-11-20T20:59:36","slug":"cintra-takes-a-stake-airport-management-by-obtaining-the-concession-of-nine-airports-mexico","status":"publish","type":"press_release","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/press-releases\/cintra-takes-a-stake-airport-management-by-obtaining-the-concession-of-nine-airports-mexico\/","title":{"rendered":"Cintra takes a stake in airport management by obtaining the concession of nine airports in Mexico"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><strong>Cintra takes a stake in airport management by obtaining the concession of nine airports in Mexico<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nThe consortium formed by <a title=\"Cintra\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business-lines\/toll-roads\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Cintra<\/a>, a firm incorporated by Ferrovial Group and Agrom\u00e1n to bid and manage transport infrastructures, along with the local building company Tribasa, GTM and the airport operator of Copenhagen, is the contract awardee for the Southwest Group of airports in Mexico, formed by nine airports, among them that of Cancun, with a traffic exceeding 6 million travellers per annum.<\/p>\n<p>The project, in which Cintra holds a 24.5% stake, includes investment exceeding 20,000 million pesetas, which shall be assigned mainly to operational improvement and conservation, on a 50- year concession term, that may be extended a further fifty The project consists of purchase of 15% of the public company awarded the nine airports up to present, with an additional purchase option of another 5%. With this, Cintra and the members of the consortium shall play a double role: its joining will allow a new impulse to be given to the activity at the airports, by participating in their management, and in taking business decisions and, secondly, to advise the Mexican government on completion of all privatisation of the airports, to be performed by a Public Sale Offer (PSO) for shares, preserving the managing position of the consortium that wins this tender.<\/p>\n<p>The consortium formed by Cintra had to compete with another five groups formed by the operators of the major European airports, among them AENA, ADP (Paris Airports), Airports of Milan, Schiphol and Airports of Montreal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cintra, the leader in the field of transport concessions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This project is Cintras entry to airport management, to be followed by future investments in other international airports, completing the motorway and parking lot fields in which it participates actively in Spain and abroad.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, Cintra is the world leader in motorways, participating in fourteen highways in Spain and Latin America, with an accumulated investment exceeding 600,000 million. In the field of parking lots, Cintra manages more than 100,000 spaces in Spain and Portugal, with investment exceeding 20,000 million pesetas in the last two years.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
