{"id":1499,"date":"2002-11-14T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2002-11-14T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/press_releases\/ferrovial-awarded-first-toll-road-concession-ireland\/"},"modified":"2024-10-04T11:29:58","modified_gmt":"2024-10-04T09:29:58","slug":"ferrovial-awarded-first-toll-road-concession-ireland","status":"publish","type":"press_release","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/press-releases\/ferrovial-awarded-first-toll-road-concession-ireland\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrovial awarded its first toll road concession in Ireland"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/05\/img_112350429106_2242005135916.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"86\" \/>N4\/N6 Kinnegad-Kilcock Motorway, Ireland\u00b4s first privately-financed toll road, will cost between 253 and 380 million euros and the concession will run for 30 years<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>This makes 16 toll roads which Ferrovial operates in Spain, Portugal, Ireland, Chile and Canada through its subsidiary Cintra.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ferrovial Infraestructuras (concessions holding company) also manages airports in Australia, the UK, Mexico and Chile, and 180,000 parking spaces in Spain.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ferrovial short-listed for another Irish Road Plan project: Dundalk Western Bypass<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ferrovial, through its toll roads concessions subsidiary Cintra, has been awarded the concession for the construction, financing and operation of its first toll road in Ireland. The N4\/N6 Kinnegad-Kilcock Motorway project &#8211; Ireland\u00b4s first privately-financed toll road &#8211; is estimated by the government to cost between 253 and 380 million euros, and the concession will run for 30 years.<\/p>\n<p>The 35 km road is part of the corridor linking Dublin to the north-west. Cintra owns 93% of the winning consortium, in partnership with SIAC, Ireland\u00b4s third-largest construction company. The construction of the toll road is scheduled to start in spring 2003 and will be executed by a joint venture consisting of Ferrovial Agrom\u00e1n (Ferrovial\u00b4s construction subsidiary) and SIAC. The toll road is expected to be in operation by mid-2006.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A second project in Ireland<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Cintra and partner SIAC have been short-listed to present their Best and Final Offer (BAFO) for a second toll road in Ireland-the Dundalk Western By-Pass-which is also part of the 2000-2006 National Development Plan, in addition to nine other toll roads.<\/p>\n<p>The Irish government estimates that the project will cost between 63 million euros and 126 million euros, and the concession will run for 30 years. The toll road will be 53 km long, of which 11 km will be newly-constructed. The project forms part of the N1 national primary route linking Dublin and Belfast. The other finalist is Celtic Roads Group (NTR, Ascon, Nuttal and Dragados).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Further projects in Spain, Portugal, Greece and Germany<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Concessions are still one of Ferrovial\u00b4s main growth engines, backed up by a rapidly-expanding market. Ferrovial will continue to focus on the opportunities offered by the OECD countries (mainly Europe and North America), where it is very active: it is currently pre-qualified or short-listed for concession projects worth 3.5 billion euros in Spain, Greece, Portugal and Germany.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrovial is one of the world\u00b4s largest infrastructure developers, with a committed investment of over 1.7 billion euros. Ferrovial manages 16 toll roads in Spain, Portugal, Italy, Chile and Canada; 12 airports (handling over 40 million passengers) in Australia, the UK, Mexico and Chile; and 180,000 parking spaces in
