The consortium headed by Ferrovial Agroman<\/a>, of which local company MSF<\/a> is also a member, has been selected by Iberdrola<\/a> to build the Gouvaes hydroelectric plant<\/strong> on the T\u00e2mega river, in northern Portugal. The project will cost 80 million euro and is to be completed in 47 months.<\/p>\n

It comprises construction of the underground main machine hall<\/strong> (120 meters long, 20 meters wide and 44 meters high) to hold four 220 MW generators (880 MW in total) and the underground transformer hall (80 m long, 17 m wide, 14 m high). Ferrovial Agroman will also be in charge of digging five kilometers of galleries and 8 vertical shafts<\/strong> measuring up to 320 meters and with a diameter of 7 meters.<\/p>\n

The Gouvaes plant is the third contract awarded by Iberdrola to Ferrovial’s construction subsidiary within the T\u00e2mega River Hydroelectric Complex. In May 2016, the company was chosen to build the Daivoes dam and power plant<\/a>, currently under construction. It had previously built the penstock for the Gouvaes plant and the inspection galleries for the T\u00e2mega project.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial Agroman has extensive experience in projects of this type around the world. It is currently building the Los C\u00f3ndores hydroelectric plant<\/a> in Chile, and it built the tunnels for the Ituango hydroelectric plant<\/a> in Colombia.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
