Webber<\/a>, a Ferrovial Agroman<\/a> subsidiary, has been selected by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT)<\/a> to widen a stretch of the I-45<\/strong> for 119 million dollars (111 million euro).<\/p>\n

The contract includes widening a 6.7-mile (11 km) stretch of the highway in Walker County, north of Houston, to six travel lanes, and replacing bridges, frontage roads and drainage structures. According to TxDOT figures, over 48,000 vehicles<\/strong> use I-45 each day. The project will alleviate congestion<\/strong> on the highway and enhance freight mobility<\/strong> in the area. Built in the early 1960s, I-45 is one of the main evacuation routes for the Houston and Galveston areas.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial has an established presence in Texas, where subsidiary Cintra operates the LBJ Express<\/a> and North Tarrant Express<\/a> highways in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The company has been awarded a number of projects in the US in recent months, including the contract to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the I-66<\/a>, in Virginia, upgrading the I-285\/SR400 interchange<\/a>\u00a0in Atlanta, and building a section of California’s high-speed railway network<\/a>. It has also been chosen to begin negotiations for the Great Hall redevelopment project at Denver International Airport<\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
