{"id":98244,"date":"2020-07-15T17:08:38","date_gmt":"2020-07-15T15:08:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=press_release&#038;p=98244"},"modified":"2022-12-21T09:02:26","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T08:02:26","slug":"budimex-warszawa-zachodnia-station","status":"publish","type":"press_release","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/press-releases\/budimex-warszawa-zachodnia-station\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrovial awarded \u20ac433 million reconstruction of Warszawa Zachodnia station"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <ul>\n<li>The project comprises the construction of a new train station, the modernization of 30 kilometres of railtracks and the construction of diverse connection branches<\/li>\n<li>It will also construct a multifunctional building for PKP, the railway infrastructure operator in Poland<\/li>\n<li>This contract strengthens the presence of Ferrovial&#8217;s subsidiary in a field in which it has extensive experience, including projects such as the Warsaw-Lublin railway line<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ferrovial through its Polish subsidiary Budimex, has been awarded a contract to rebuild the Warszawa Zachodnia train station, located in Warsaw\u2019s western area of the city, in a project worth 1.94 billion zlotys, about \u20ac433 million. With an average traffic of 1,300 trains per day, it is the country\u2019s second busiest and biggest station.<\/p>\n<p>This project, which is part of Poland&#8217;s National Railways Program, includes the demolition of the current station and the construction of a new one with a large entrance hall in the northern area, nine platforms on the surface and an underground access corridor to the tracks, which at the same time serves as a shopping arcade.<\/p>\n<p>The works include the construction of a large canopy covered with photovoltaic panels and a pedestrian walkway on the platforms, all in metal structure. The project also includes the remodeling of 30 kilometers of tracks and rail switchers and the construction of several connection branches, as well as the installation of rail traffic control systems and the rail traction network.<\/p>\n<p>The construction works will also improve direct connection between the cities of Piaseczno and Legionowo, and between Legionowo and Chopin Airport. The station will be expanded and modernized in order to enhance user experience. The project, which will connect with Warsaw\u2019s tram in the near future, is expected to be completed by 2023.<\/p>\n<p>This contract strengthens Budimex&#8217;s position in an area in which it has extensive experience. This division of Ferrovial is working on the Warsaw-Lublin railway line, which includes the rebuilding of 120 kilometers of track; it also modernized LCS Kutno (\u017bychlin-Bar\u0142ogi section) on the completed E-20 railway line. Last year it was selected for a contract worth 1.8 billion zlotys (gross) (about \u20ac402 million) to modernize Gdynia Port station.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
