Texas highway SH 130 incentivizes trucks to choose toll road

News

Texas highway SH 130 has been able to successfully structure a deal with TxDOT to reduce the truck toll to for an entire year, beginning on April 1st 2013. Truck drivers who travel non-stop between Georgetown and Seguin on SH 130 segments 1-6 will pay the passenger vehicle rate. The toll discount is intended as an incentive to reduce congestion on I-35 through the Austin-San Antonio corridor.

The discount applies for truckers using any portion of SH 130. TxDOT has initiated several short-term discount programs in the past. However, this is the first time the SH 130 was able to negotiate with the department to include the privately-operated segments 5 and 6 in the program and to also extend the initiative for an entire year.
