El gestor aeroportuario, filial de Ferrovial, culminar\u00e1 de esa manera un proyecto que puso en marcha en 1989.<\/p>\n<p>La nueva terminal constituye uno de los hitos m\u00e1s importantes del plan de BAA para transformar Heathrow antes de los Juegos Ol\u00edmpicos que se celebrar\u00e1n en Londres en 2012. La T5 est\u00e1 pensada para los m\u00e1s de 30 millones de pasajeros que acoger\u00e1 al a\u00f1o disfruten de una experiencia de viaje nueva entre sus grandes paredes de cristal.<\/p>\n<p>Las cifras de la Terminal 5 son colosales: ha sido necesaria una inversi\u00f3n superior a los 6.000 millones de euros para poner en pie el mayor edificio de Reino Unido. Dise\u00f1ado por el prestigioso arquitecto Lord Rogers, el vest\u00edbulo principal tiene una altura de 40 metros, con una longitud de 396 metros y una anchura de 176 metros. La cubierta, que pesa 18.500 toneladas, tard\u00f3 m\u00e1s de 11 meses en colocarse y se sostiene con 22 columnas de acero sin soportes centrales.<\/p>\n<p title=\"En el coraz\u00f3n de la econom\u00eda brit\u00e1nica\">La apertura de la T5 es uno de los grandes proyectos de BAA para convertir Heathrow en un aeropuerto pr\u00e1cticamente nuevo y que mande al pasado los problemas de sobrecapacidad que ahora sufre. Y es que, en una instalaciones pensadas para 45 millones de personas al a\u00f1o pasan ahora 70 millones.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
