Ferrovial Services, named preferred bidder for a new highways maintenance contract in the United Kingdom worth up to £120m

Amey, the UK subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, has been selected by Calderdale City Council (northern England) as preferred bidder to maintain the city’s roads. This five-year contract, which may be extended up to fifteen years, is worth £120m (over €151m) and expands the range of services the company has been providing the city since 2000.

AmeyFerrovial Services’ British subsidiary, has been named preferred bidder to take on a highways maintenance contract with Calderdale Council worth up to £120m.

Amey has been Calderdale’s highways maintenance and street lighting provider since May 2000, and this announcement signals the start of new five year contract with Calderdale Council providing a wider range of services. The contract will begin in October 2012 for 5 years, with the option to extend for up to 15 years. The contract involves the maintenance of 1,100km of road, 36,000 street lights as well as providing drainage, winter maintenance and emergency highway operations, on behalf of the council.

Amey recently completed financing for its infrastructure maintenance contract with Sheffield City Council, worth over £2b; it also has a contract with Birmingham City Council. These projects are part of the Intelligent Cities strategy implemented by Ferrovial Services.
