Volunteering initiatives give back to local community in Atlanta

Our Ferrovial Construction US team working on the Transform 285/400 Interchange Improvement Project in Atlanta, GA, spent two days giving back to the community in May. North Perimeter Contractors (NPC), a subsidiary of Ferrovial Construction US, serves as the project’s design-build contractor.

Staff members joined local agencies to either help beautify a national outdoor recreation area or volunteer at a local community assistance center.

Community Assistance Center

The spirit of volunteering took a team of 20 employees to the Community Assistance Center in Atlanta, where they packed 2,820 meals for children eligible for the state’s free lunch program. Preparing breakfast and lunch for these children when school is closed for the summer helps to ensure they do not go without food. The FCUS team set a Center record by packing 564 bags of food, each containing five days of meals, in just one hour. When they left, the Center director asked when they’re coming back!

Vickery Creek Clean Up

The following day 14 employees put on hiking shoes and gloves to take part in Vickery Creek Clean-Up, organized by the National Park Service just for our team of volunteers. Staff climbed over rocks and navigated steep banks to pick up trash along the banks of Vickery Creek, a waterway that flows into the Chattahoochee River.
