- The contract, valued at nearly 34 million euros, marks the start of construction on one of Central Europe’s most ambitious infrastructure projects
Budimex, Ferrovial’s Polish subsidiary, has signed a contract with Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) to carry out the foundation work for the passenger terminal at Poland’s new national airport, located between Warsaw and Łódź. The contract, valued at 145.9 million zlotys (approximately 34 million euros), marks the start of construction on the largest infrastructure project in the country’s history.
“This is a project of strategic importance for Poland and for Central Europe as a whole. We will carry it out with a full sense of responsibility, paying the utmost attention to safety and quality, and with a commitment to ensuring that it makes a lasting contribution to modernizing the country’s infrastructure,” said Artur Popko, president and CEO of Budimex.
The works will begin in September 2026 and include the construction of more than 8,000 piles and columns with individual lengths ranging from 9 to 30 meters, built using various deep foundation technologies. The total length of the ground reinforcement elements will exceed 140 kilometers. These structures will form the basis upon which the future passenger terminal will be built, with completion scheduled for late 2027.
This infrastructure will make it the most modern airport in Central Europe. It will feature two independent runways and capacity for more than 300,000 annual flight operations. Its activity will generate more than 35,000 direct jobs in the airport area. The project is expected to require an investment of approximately 131.7 billion zlotys by 2032. With this award, Budimex consolidates its position as one of the country’s leading large-scale infrastructure contractors and strengthens Ferrovial’s position in one of Europe’s most dynamic markets.
