- Dallas Houston Constructors, a consortium headed by Ferrovial Agroman, is to perform the engineering and design work during the project development phase.
- The 386 km high-speed railway line will connect Dallas and Houston.
- This phase will undertake planning and construction costing.
Madrid, 21/10/2015.- A consortium headed by Ferrovial Agroman has been chosen by Texas Central Partners (TCP) to undertake pre-construction work for the future high-speed rail line between Dallas and Houston. TCP, a private company that is developing the project, will be responsible for the design, finance, construction, operation and maintenance.
This is a seed project whose implementation is contingent upon financial closure and obtainment of compulsory purchase and environmental permits.
The consortium, headed by Ferrovial, will provide work to TCP worth 130 million dollars, which will put it in an advantageous position to bid for design and construction, if the project goes ahead. Design and construction of the project is worth over 10 billion dollars. Dallas Houston Constructors (DHC) is the name of the consortium, which also includes Archer Western Construction.
Ferrovial’s consortium was chosen because of the extensive experience it provides in the design, construction and maintenance of high-speed railway lines and in construction in the state of Texas. Ferrovial Agroman has participated in some of the most complex transport projects in Texas, such as the LBJ and NTE toll roads in Dallas, and has built one-quarter of Spain’s high-speed rail network, having worked on all the lines developed to date.
Archer Western is a subsidiary of Walsh, a US construction group with a history spanning 117 years. In the last decade, it has accumulated extensive experience in the railway market in Texas, where it has built 26 stations on the DART and DCTA lines, among other infrastructures. It is also the fourth-largest bridge builder in the US.
