In February, more than 600 elected officials, legislators, business leaders and transportation planners from all over North Texas came together for the 10th Annual Northeast Tarrant Transportation Summit. Autonomous vehicles, public transit, rail, aviation, infrastructure and managed lanes were among the topics discussed at this year’s meeting.
NTE Mobility Partners was a title sponsor for the summit’s 10th anniversary and was later honored for its long-standing partnership and for improving mobility in the region.
The summit took a look back at how mobility has improved throughout the years and how transportation will continue to evolve in the future. Panels included thought leaders from Bell, UBER, AECOM, D-FW Airport, Cintra, NCTCOG and Texas Central Railway. Sessions involved discussions about ‘Connecting People to the “First and Last Mile” of Transportation’; An update on Texas Central Railway’s high-speed train; and ‘Where Will Funding for Our Roads Come From in the Next Decade?’
Robert Hinkle, North Texas Corporate Affairs for LBJ/NTE/NTE3, moderated a panel titled:
“The Future of Air Travel for Goods and Passengers in North Texas.”
The panelists discussed the new era of aviation technology and how it will tie in to ground connections and change the way we travel and receive our product purchases.
During the luncheon, NTEMP premiered a special video in honor of the 10th anniversary of the approval and development of the first managed lanes projects in Texas. The video included work on the North Tarrant Express, LBJ Express and 35W. NTE Mobility Partners was given a special recognition by Commissioner Gary Fickes for being a project partner from the beginning. The award reads, “In recognition and appreciation of your sponsorship for the past 10 years. Thank you for your enduring support and dedication to improving transportation in Tarrant County and across the great State of Texas!”
To conclude the summit, the keynote conversation between Arlington Mayor Jeff Williams and former Dallas Mayor, US Trade Representative and current Board member of Texas Central Railway, Ambassador Ron Kirk, praised the managed lane concept, and called the corridors “a speed spot.” He also stated that our region has never taken a risk in transportation that we did not reap the benefits of far past what we had expected.
