Ferrovial Agroman, through subsidiary Webber, has been awarded three new road contracts worth $360 million (€308 million). The company is to widen the IH-10 in Houston and the FM-156 in Forth Worth, and perform a number of upgrades on the IH-35 in Austin.
On the IH-10, Webber will add an extra lane in each direction along a 10.2-mile (16.4-kilometer) stretch, and make additional improvements. Work will commence in January 2019 and is to be concluded in the Spring of 2022. Webber will also widen the FM-156 from two to four lanes along a 3.8-mile stretch (6.1 kilometers) and build two additional bridges to avoid a flood zone. Work is scheduled to begin in March 2019 and conclude in Autumn 2022.
The last of the projects includes work along a 2.3-mile (3.7-kilometer) section of the IH-35, including the construction of a bridge and an underpass in place of an overpass, expansion of frontage roads, and upgrading of the main lanes. Work will begin in January 2019 and conclude in the Spring of 2021.
These projects firmly establish Webber as one of the leading road builders in Texas. In 2017, it was awarded contracts to expand the US 281 and I-45, among others. Ferrovial Agroman was also chosen to build an 85-kilometer section of Houston’s Grand Parkway, in the north-east of the Greater Houston area.
