Ferrovial expands road maintenance backlog in the United States by $136 million

Ferrovial , through its Services division, has been awarded new contracts and extensions in the area of road maintenance and vegetation management in the US. The projects, located in Florida, Texas, Georgia, Alaska and Washington D.C., are worth a total of $136 million (over €121 million).

Florida Department of Transportation has awarded 5 contracts to Ferrovial Services. The company will conduct maintenance work along 180 km of roads in Polk County over the next seven years. It will also maintain 193 km of the well-known Overseas Highway, in Monroe County. Florida DoT has also declared plans to renew the contract for maintaining 2,253 km of roads in Pinellas and Madison counties for another 7 years. Also in Florida, Ferrovial has just begun a 5-year vegetation management contract along 563 km of roads in Washington and Jackson counties.

In Texas, the company was awarded two similar contracts and has recently begun delivering vegetation management and debris removal services in several sectors of Harris County, in Houston. The contracts require maintenance of 8.5 square kilometers of stormwater drains and storage areas in zones prone to flooding.

Georgia Department of Transportation selected Ferrovial Services to provide road maintenance and vegetation management across 36 square kilometers of surface in the state’s District 4 (east and west). The contract may be renewed each year for up to 5 years in total.

The Alaska Department of Transportation has renewed, for the fourth consecutive time, the contract with the Ferrovial subsidiary to operate and maintain the Anton Anderson Memorial Tunnel, a hybrid road-rail tunnel over 4 kilometers long, for five years.

And the Washington D.C. District Department of Transportation has extended, for another year, the contract for maintaining 17 tunnels in the national highway system, including mechanical, electrical and structural maintenance, fire-fighting and flood prevention systems, signage and emergency lighting.

Infrastructure maintenance in North America

Ferrovial’s Services division is in charge of operating and maintaining transport infrastructures in a number of US states, including Alaska, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Texas. It also provides these services in Canada, in Sault St. Marie, North Bay, Ottawa, Peel Halton East and York (Greater Toronto) under contracts with the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario.
