Ferrovial, through its Construction branch in the UK and Ireland, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the Armed Forces community. The Covenant is a voluntary pledge that acknowledges the sacrifices made by those who serve in the UK Armed Forces and commits signatories to supporting the welfare, employment and education of the armed forces community and their families.
By signing the pledge, Ferrovial Construction UK & Ireland joins more than 10,000 organisations across a range of sectors including education, manufacturing, the charity sector, hospitality, retail, and financial services.
As part of the Covenant, Ferrovial Construction UK & Ireland has committed to offering employment opportunities to veterans and their families, providing fair treatment for veterans, serving personnel, reservists and their families and supporting reservists and cadet organisations, whilst promoting the skills and qualities that military personnel can bring to the workplace.
Commenting on the signing of the Covenant, Karl Goose, Managing Director of Ferrovial Construction in the UK & Ireland, said: “Signing the covenant has given me an enormous sense of pride on a personal level, but also as leader of our UK organisation. We have some excellent team members who began their careers in the Armed Forces. Ensuring they have access to the policies and benefits that they need as veterans, reservists, and partners of people in the forces is only right. We recognise the valuable contribution that members of the Armed Forces make to our society and our company. This community brings so much to our industry in terms of their skills and values. We want them to know that this is a great place for their career to grow”.
The signing of the Covenant is just one of the ways in which Ferrovial Construction UK & Ireland is working to be an employer of choice for people from diverse backgrounds and careers. Earlier this year the company signed up to the Age-Friendly Employer Pledge, Disability Confident employer scheme, are embarking on a study into gender and ethnicity pay gaps in a cross-industry academic research project with Leeds University and have just launched a range of employee networks to better connect and support our teams across projects.
