Ferrovial, through its Construction division, has been distinguished for its good performance in waste management of its projects in Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Australia and the United States in accordance with the standards of the Zero Waste Guidelines of Société Générale de Surveillance (SGS), a world leader in its field. The company has proven to recover more than 95% of the waste it generates through reuse and recycling.
This certification is aligned with the main international initiatives by organizations such as the OECD, UNEP (Agenda 2030) and the European Union, which underscore the importance of circular economy practices.
Zero Waste certification is awarded to organizations that manage their waste efficiently, avoiding the use of landfills, and measures compliance with certain standards of waste reuse, recycling, recovery and disposal. To obtain this certification, Ferrovial Construction undertook to recover at least 90% of the waste generated in selected countries.
Specifically, Ferrovial’s Construction Division managed to repurpose 91.75% of the waste generated, which amounted to around 11 million tons, and it recycled 4.05%.
