Ferrovial Agroman to build conference center in Poland for 65 million euro

A consortium comprising Budimex and Ferrovial Agroman has signed a contract with the city of Krakow to build a conference center with capacity for over 3,000 people. The project, which will cost 65 million euro, is scheduled for completion in August 2014.

A consortium comprising Ferrovial Agroman and its subsidiary Budimex has signed a contract worth 65 million euro with the city of Krakow, Poland, to build a conference center. The new 37,000 square meter facility is due to open in August 2014. The project includes a 2,000-seat auditorium for conferences and concerts. There will also be two conference rooms (seating 600 and 300) and ancillary facilities. The project also includes a two-story parking complex with capacity for 350 vehicles.

Presence in Poland

In the first half of 2011, Budimex obtained 549 million euro in construction revenues, a 48% increase with respect to last year in like-for-like terms. Its backlog amounted to 1.990 billion euro. In the same period, Ferrovial Agroman obtained revenues of 1.985 billion euro and the international backlog amounted to 6.665 billion euro, 67% of the division’s total.

Budimex is currently in the process of acquiring PNI, a civil engineering company specialized in railway infrastructure design, construction and maintenance. Budimex’s main contracts in Poland include the construction of a section of the S17 highway in Lublin, the bridge over the Vistula river at Kwidzyn, several sections of the A2, A1 and A4 highways, and the renovation of the Wroc³aw railway station.
