Ferrovial, through its Highways division Cintra and its Polish subsidiary Budimex, is part of the consortium selected by the Czech Ministry of Transport as the preferred bidder to deliver a section of the D35 highway in the Czech Republic under a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme, for an approximate value of CZK 71,324 billion (€2.9 billion)[1].
“We are proud to participate in one of the Czech Republic’s most important transport infrastructure projects. The D35 is aimed to strengthen connectivity, support economic growth, and create long-term value for local communities. This project demonstrates how public-private partnerships can deliver essential infrastructure efficiently and sustainably while supporting the country’s long-term development,” said Ignacio Madridejos, Chief Executive Officer of Ferrovial.
The consortium formed by Cintra, Budimex, Strabag and Invesis, submittedin July the most economically and technically advantageous tender among the qualified bidders. The contract also includes the operation and maintenance of the adjacent 17-kilometer section between Litomyšl and Opatovec, bringing the total network under management to c. 52 kilometers.
The project also includes the construction of two tunnels measuring approximately 4 kilometers and 1.3 kilometers in length. The D35 is one of the Czech Republic’s most significant transportation infrastructure projects and, upon completion, will improve connectivity between Bohemia and Moravia while helping relieve congestion on the existing I/35 and D1 corridors.
