Ferrovial, through its subsidiary Amey, will provide environmental and infrastructure services in Trafford, England, for 15 years, with a possible 8-year extension, for 235 million pounds (around 319 million euro).
Under this contract, Amey will manage waste collection, street cleaning, infrastructure maintenance and other services related to traffic and road safety in the city, and will also maintain street lighting and urban furniture, the sewer system and municipal buildings.
Amey will use innovative solutions to manage these services, which will provide savings of close to 2.25 million pounds in 2015-2016 for Trafford, a borough of Greater Manchester that is home to 210,000 people. The company will implement a 9 million pound street lighting programme which includes the installation of LED technology in different areas of the city. This will adapt lighting to actual needs while reducing energy consumption and emissions.
