Ferrovial awarded contract to maintain 370 kilometres of highways in the United Kingdom

Amey, a subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, has been chosen by Highways England to maintain roads in Area 7. The contract, which is for 15 years, will be reviewed every three years. It is worth 300 million pounds (389 million euro): 60 million pounds (78 million euro) per three-year period.

Under this contract, in July 2016 Amey will take responsibility for maintaining 230 miles of highways (370 km) in the East Midlands region, including Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire and stretches of some of the busiest roads in the UK (M1, M69, M45 and M6). The company will also undertake functions such as defect repairs, emergency incident response and severe weather service.

The project enhances Amey’s relationship with Highways England. Amey, a subsidiary of Ferrovial Services, is already handling maintenance of the roads in Areas 6 and 8—1,100 miles of road (1,770 km), in the East of England.

In the area of road maintenance and management, Amey’s clients include Transport Scotland, the Welsh Government, and the Northern Ireland road authority.
