Heathrow Airport has appointed the UKs Green Building Council (UK-GBC) to develop and deliver a training and education programme to the Heathrow Capital supply chain that focuses on achieving sustainable outcomes on its Capital projects.
This project is supported by six Tier 1 contractors, featuring Ferrovial Agroman and other construction firms. This series will be specifically developed for Heathrow Airport, and will draw upon existing UK-GBC education programmes.
The UK Green Building Council is campaigning for a sustainable built environment. As a charity and membership organisation, it facilitates dialogue between Industry and Government to promote greener approaches in the construction sector.
The key objectives of the Heathrow Sustainable Construction Series are the following:
- Support suppliers to deliver successful projects, and achieve sustainability outcomes.
- For Heathrow to be visible to the supply chain as recognising sustainability as a core requirement.
- To upskill Heathrow Airport Ltds own project management team.
- To raise awareness within the supply chain of the Heathrow Sustainability Requirements for Contractors.
Courses will begin on June 13 and will include different sessions and meetings, eventually finishing in May 2014.
