Glasgow Airport voted Best in UK in passenger survey

Glasgow Airport has been voted the best airport in the UK in a study by Saga. Over 10,000 people were asked to rate their local airports on a range of categories and come up with an overall ranking, which saw Glasgow claim pole position. Panellists were asked to rank airports against categories including queuing at security, check-in or drop-off baggage, the cost of food, baggage reclaim, signage, friendliness of staff, the selection of food available and the range of shops available in some airports. Glasgow Airport claimed top spot across a range of voted for services, closely followed by Birmingham and Manchester airports.

Amanda McMillan, managing director of Glasgow Airport, said: “To have been voted the best airport in the UK by Saga is a tremendous honour and it rounds off what has been a hugely successful year for the airport and the city. The eyes of the world fell on Glasgow this year and we were proud to serve as the gateway to what proved to be the most successful Commonwealth Games ever. For many, Glasgow Airport is their first and last impression of Scotland and we are acutely aware of the role we play in creating the right image for the airport and perhaps more importantly, for the city. We have committed significant investment in enhancing our facilities and improving the passenger experience and I’m absolutely delighted with the result of this UK-wide survey.”

Saga Travel’s Louis Myers said: “We know that holidays are something to look forward to and clearly, the smaller regional airports offer more of what our travellers in particular like – a comfortable place to wait for flights without the hassle and stress which plagues the larger airports

The survey was conducted on behalf of Saga by Populus which interviewed 10,716 adults, all aged 18+, online between 14th and 21st March 2014. Populus is a member of the British Polling Council and abides by its rules.
