A grand total of 5.58 million passengers passed through Heathrow Airport this November, a 2% increase on the same time last year, making it Heathrow’s busiest November to date.
Bigger, fuller and quieter aircraft have facilitated this increase in passenger numbers. Figures show a 1.4% rise in seats per aircraft (210) whilst the number of passengers per aircraft has risen by 3.4% to 152. Load factors have also increased by 1.9% to 72.3%. Heathrow managed to minimize the impact of incidents in Europe and the Middle East, total volumes for November were only 1% less than those anticipated.
Emerging Markets
In the emerging markets, passenger volumes for Mexico increased by over half by an impressive 52%. Totals for China have risen by 19% and the Middle East by 6%. This is in part owing to the new aircraft in use including the A380s models. The cargo volumes in these markets have also increased, by a total of 1.8% over the past year. The emerging market of Mexico experienced the greatest growth with cargo volumes increasing by 31% whilst Turkey rose by 27% and China by 3%.
Also last month, Heathrow Airport was recognized for its sustainable transport services by the British publication
