The company has been awarded the contract for industrial maintenance for Navantia’s two facilities in the Ría de Ferrol.
Ferrovial Services, through a temporary joint venture with Elinco Construcciones, has been awarded an industrial maintenance contract for the Navantia shipyard in the estuary at Ferrol. This is the first maintenance contract for Ferrovial Services in the naval sector.
Navantia’s shipyard in Galicia has two production centres totalling an area in excess of 1,800,000 m2. The first of these is located in Ferrol, and has been specialising in the building of warships since the 18th century. The second is located in Fene and builds mainly large structures and civilian ships.
This new contract includes preventive and corrective maintenance of all production facilities and general services at the two centres. The most significant equipment includes an 800 tonne gantry crane, 42 exterior jib cranes, 249 interior cranes (overhead cranes and hoists), five paint and spraying cabins and all types of cutting and welding machinery.
