The renovation and expansion of the Hospital de Jove has updated the various areas of the hospital center to adapt it to the needs of its new program. The remodeling affected six floors and 6,595.49 m² of floor space, 2,968.77 m² of which is new space.
Ferrovial Agroman started the Hospital de Jove project in January 2016 and finished in December 2018, three months ahead of schedule. The new arrangement reorganized pre-existing services over 3,000 square meters of new space. The rest of the construction involved renovating and expanding old areas like the pharmacy, labs, and rehabilitation.
In order to update the Hospital’s existing areas while keeping services running, spaces had to be freed up to reorganize services internally. To do so, the expansion of the northwest block was planned, with the addition of a floor on the existing north block, as well.
The new block rises three levels above ground, so it brings resolution and scale to the new entrance and Outpatient Area, harmonizing the building’s interior with the residential area and landscaped surroundings without interfering with existing entrances and traffic.
In terms of facilities, this expansion has resulted in higher demand that led to the change of the MT and BT headers, which appeared insufficient and obsolete. Therefore, the installation of new generator sets capable of cover the entire hospital’s needs was included, with several existing lines and sub-frames being modified in turn.
As for air conditioning, a new cooling station and boiler have been added in addition to the A/C in the areas affected by the renovations, and there were expansions and modifications to the existing system that covers the entire hospital.
