u.s. highway 281 groundbreaking ceremony
Webber, a subsidiary of Ferrovial Agroman, begins construction work on the San Antonio 281 highway in Texas. Dignitaries and stakeholders broke ground on the expansion of U.S. Highway 281 between Loop 1604 (commonly known as the Charles W Anderson Loop) and the Bexar-Comal county line in northern San Antonio, Texas. The contract includes the construction of three new lanes (two for general use and one for high occupancy vehicles) in each direction, together with four interchanges with Loop 1604 and a direct connection to a park-and-ride facility with access to VIA Metropolitan Transit (San Antonio’s public transport system). The necessary frontage roads will be built along with bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The project will be constructed in two phases and Webber LLC was selected by the Texas Dept. of Transportation (TxDOT) as the general contractor.
