Madrid, 13/11/2017.- ZITY today unveiled Madrid's new carsharing service, which will come into operation in
December. The service will be available within the
M-30 beltway and in certain other areas. ZITY unveiled its website, www.zitycar.es, and announced that the first
5,000 people who pre-register on the
site will get a promotional code giving them
20 minutes' free usage. Javier Mateos, CEO of ZITY, said that "shared mobility is a key means of driving sustainability in cities."
The vehicle that was presented this morning and will be available for Madrid residents to use is the ZOE Z.E. 40. The service will be provided by
500 electric cars with a rated
range of up to 400 km, a large trunk and the assurance that the energy used to recharge the batteries is
100% renewable. The cars have a
EURO NCAP 5-star rating — the highest safety level — and the energy for recharging is certified 100% renewable. A pilot test will be conducted in November with a small number of cars.
