We are pleased to announce the appointment of Brooke Akins as Cintra’s Global ESG Director, working from Austin, Texas, and reporting to Ricardo Sanchez, Global Head of Technical Services and Innovation.
In her newly created role as Director of Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance, Brooke is responsible for developing, implementing, managing and reporting Cintra’s ESG strategy to its stakeholders. She will oversee data collection and quality control of key performance indicators to ensure reliability and comparability while providing data-driven recommendations to improve the firm’s sustainability performance. Building upon Ferrovial’s well-established sustainability strategy, Brooke will align Cintra’s efforts to optimize results across both firms.
Working with other teams, Brooke will develop ESG-related education and communications to enhance awareness and improve future outcomes. She will also advise on ESG frameworks and practices to mitigate risks and take advantage of opportunities both internally and with Cintra’s business partners.
Prior to joining Cintra, Brooke served as the Director of Investor Relations and ESG for Virtus Real Estate Capital, a private equity real estate investment company. While at Virtus, Brooke supported the firm’s fundraising and investor servicing efforts and led its ESG strategy, including designing policies, implementing monitoring procedures and tools across the firm’s portfolio, and establishing and chairing the ESG and DEI committees.
Brooke holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Illinois Chicago and a M.B.A. from The University of Texas at Austin. She holds a Level I certification in SASB’s Fundamentals of Sustainable Accounting and is working on her Level II. She is a member of the National Investor Relations Institute and Texas Wall Street Women.
Brooke’s philanthropic interests include the Ann Richards School Foundation and Austin’s Boys and Girls Club. In her free time, Brooke scours collection sites and antique stores in search of her next LP record to add to her collection of more than 500 records.
Please join us in welcoming Brooke!
