TEXpress Lanes hold annual safety training rodeo.
For the 11th year in a row, our LBJ Express and North Tarrant Express projects put on an equipment safety rodeo with more than 100 staff members participating and using tractors, mowers and forklifts.
Responsible for keeping 586 miles of the LBJ, NTE and NTE 35W corridors safe for drivers every day, our Operations & Maintenance and Information Technology Systems (ITS) teams schedule this annual safety training “rodeo” every summer.
The event consists of timed and skilled-based drills using the maintenance equipment to ensure familiarity and readiness in any inclement weather and roadway maintenance scenario they might encounter in North Texas. Each team member rotated through each piece of equipment on display and awards were handed out for best time.
This safety rodeo was organized by LBJ Express employees John Reneau, Director of Roadway Maintenance, and Greg Joslin, Maintenance Manager, as well as by NTE employees Myron Davis, Maintenance Manager, Victor Edwards, Field System Director, Evin Williams, ITS Field Systems Manager and Luis Torres, Environmental, Quality & Safety Director.
Activities included:
- Front-end loader/tractor operations
- Proper speeds and maneuvering of mowers
- Forklift and trailer backing
Vendors from both the road maintenance and ITS showcased and demonstrated their latest safety and PPE products.
