Asturias Water Consortium has awarded to Cadagua the operation, maintenance and conservation service of the public sewerage and wastewater treatment system of the Lower Basin of the Nalón river CAA/2019/127 for 4 years plus 1 possible one-year extension.
The Lower Basin of the Nalón river sanitation system is composed of Soto del Barco EDAR and a 28.84 km network of collectors with 378 manholes. It treats waterwaste from the municipalities of Soto del Barco, Muros de Nalón, Pravia and Salas, including 4 EBAR (pumping stations), 14 spillways, 10 spillways-EBAR and 1 spillway-chamber.
Soto del Barco EDAR is designed to treat discharges of an equivalent population of 20,832 inhabitants, the plant has a maximum instantaneous pretreatment capacity with screening, desanding and degreasing of 480 l/s and a storm tank. In addition, it has a biological treatment by prolonged aeration with biological elimination of nitrogen and phosphorus with a peak capacity of 180 l/s. The facilities are complemented by a water reuse system for irrigation and industrial washing and a sludge line designed for sludge dewatering by means of belt filters.
