Ferrovial Agroman welcomed a visit from the Spanish Ambassador to its T2A construction site at Heathrow Airport on 25th April.
It was the first time the new Spanish ambassador to the UK, H.E Mr. Federico Trillo-Figueroa Martínez – Conde had visited a Ferrovial construction site in the UK. Terminal 2A is currently being built by HETCo (Ferrovial Agroman and Laing O’Rourke joint venture).
Accompanied by the embassy ministers; Mr. José Antonio Zamora (Economic and Commercial Counsellor), Mr. Fidel López Álvarez (Minister for Cultural and Scientific Affairs), Mr. José Manuel Gutiérrez Delgado (Counsellor for Finance) , Mr. Ismael Cobos Delgado (Counsellor for Transport) , Ms. Blanca Sànchez-Robles Rute (Counsellor for Employment & Social Affairs), they first received a presentation on company performance and activities and an overview of the T2A project before going on a tour of the terminal.
Ignacio Clopes, Managing Director for Ferrovial Agroman UK & Ireland, greeted the ambassador and ministers with a presentation on Ferrovial’s history and achievements in the UK and Ireland since the company’s presence was established almost 11 years ago.
Following on from the company presentation, Pablo Riesco, HETCo Project Director, delivered a summary of HETCo’s achievements in the last five years to the embassy committee. They were very interested to see how the successful example of anglo-Spanish collaboration between Ferrovial Agroman and Laing O’Rourke had managed to create an integrated team which enjoyed the best of both cultures.
The ambassador and ministers were able to see the remarkable Health and Safety performance and implemented measures on site for themselves in addition to the pioneering design and optimum quality of the construction process when they were taken on a tour of the “passenger” experience – from Check-In to Departures.
Mr. John Holland-Kaye, Heathrow Development Director, was able to meet the visitors and brief them on the future plans for Heathrow.
