The reconstruction project will include three miles of I-37 and is anticipated to begin in September 2021.
Webber, LLC was awarded the reconstruction of I-37 in San Patricio County by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The project is valued at about $84 million.
The reconstruction project will include three miles of I-37 including the direct connectors at the intersection of I-37 and US 77. Additional auxiliary lanes will increase the capacity of the road in of the event of a hurricane or other emergency evacuation. Major work activities include demolition and construction of bridges over the Nueces River, I-37 North and a frontage road overpass. The scope of work also includes upgrades to the existing main lanes, frontage roads and a public boat ramp. The I-37 bridge over the Nueces River is 1.8 miles long with 32 spans and is located in a flood plain.

The project is scheduled to last about 65 months with construction anticipated to begin in September 2021.
