Ferrovial Services has recently started providing
cleaning services for terminals T4 and T4 Satellite at
Adolfo Suárez – Madrid Barajas Airport. The service covers the cleaning of
public areas (check-in and arrivals),
controlled access areas (AENA offices) and
restricted access areas (boarding and baggage reclaim), amongst others.
Automation for improved efficiency
One of the distinctive characteristics of this contract are the
automation systems introduced by
Ferrovial Services. Ferrovial uses two types of innovative devices: robots for
automated window cleaning in difficult-to-access inner areas, and robots for
automated floor cleaning. This allows work to be automatically programmed, using
multi-area memory.
Use of these devices will provide a
50% reduction in costs and a
60% reduction in the time required for carrying out such work. It will additionally allow the
service frequency to increase by 33%, and this improved maintenance will
extend the useful life of infrastructure.
Ferrovial Services’ experience at Adolfo Suárez – Madrid Barajas Airport
Ferrovial Services started working at this airport in
1997, when it provided signage for the buildings comprising terminals T1 and T2. In 2003 it was awarded the contract for providing static and dynamic signage for the terminal, satellite and parking buildings at T4. It currently also provides winter services at the airport,
removing ice and snow from 8 million m2 of paved surfaces.
