Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional is firmly awarded the Temuco-Río Bueno Highway in Chile

Ferrovial-Agromán Internacional has won the definite award of the Temuco-Río Bueno Highway, on Route 5 of the Chilean Pan-American road, the main communications axis of the country. The award was ratified today by a Decree signed by the President of Chile, Eduardo Frei Ruiz-Tagle, the Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Ricardo Lagos Escobar, and the Finance Minister, Eduardo Aninat Ureta. The project involves the design, construction, financing, maintenance and operation of a 172 kilometer stretch between Temuco and Río Bueno, with a total investment of Pta 38 billion and a concession term of 25 years.

This is the third highway to be constructed and operated by Grupo Ferrovial in the country and, with it, the number of its transport concessions worldwide rises to ten, consolidating the group as a world leader in the development of large infrastructure projects.

The project involves the reconditioning and widening to double roadway of 172 kilometers of existing road including, among other things, 25 structures, reconditioning of another 23 structures and construction of 18 crossings at different levels, 65 kilometers of service roads and 20 walkways.

Ten transport concessions worldwide

The concession of the Temuco-Río Bueno Highway is the third won in Chile and must be added to the concessions in which the Group participates worldwide: four in Spain (Europistas, Eurovías, Autema and Autopista del Sol), three in Colombia and, with this one, another three in Chile. In this way, Grupo Ferrovial, which has an experience of more than thirty years in this activity, consolidates itself as an international market leader in the development of large infrastructure projects. At present, concession projects are also being studied in Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Chile, Argentina, Colombia, etc., with a total investment in excess of Pta 600 billion.
