Ferrovial, together with the European Commission’s EIC pilot Business Acceleration Services, organized Ferrovial’s Corporate Day in Madrid last November 28. During this day-long workday, Ferrovial invited startups to present their products and/or relevant solutions to Ferrovial’s business units.
The startups invited were specifically chosen from the portfolio of the European Commission’s EIC SME Instrument program. That is, the startups are at a low level of maturity since they have received support and previous funding from the European Commission.
Prior to the 28th, Federico Flórez, CIIO of Ferrovial, and Angieszka Stasiakowska, a representative of the European Commission, welcomed the invited startups to participate in Ferrovial’s Corporate Day during a cocktail party held on the 27th in Falla hall at Madrid’s Teatro Real.
On the 28th, twenty startups and SMEs from nine European countries gave their presentations to an audience of representatives from 4 business units from Ferrovial and Corporation. The workday was also open to stakeholders in the ecosystem and Ferrovial’s partners, and in attendance were representatives from other companies and institutions like UPM, Madrimasd, Adif, Telefónica, Enel, Cemex, Repsol, Finnova and Enagas, among others.
The workday was divided into 3 blocks of presentations, each one followed by time for the startups and attendees to meet. The objective of these reunions was to identify use cases for the solutions presented by the relevant startups for Ferrovial’s businesses. In all, there were more than 50 meetings among the startups and Ferrovial’s business units, which, as shown, was a great success given that, in less than one week, 4 pilot projects were signed between Ferrovial and the startups participating in Corporate Day. In addition, some other use cases that could be fruitful in other pilot projects in the short term have been identified.
Here at Innovación Abierta (Open Innovation), we want to thank you for your participation in Corporate Day and congratulate you on the significant effort made in identifying use cases for the solutions presented and being able to define and approve pilot projects in such a short amount of time.
