- GRESB is the first index focused specifically on the infrastructure sector
Ferrovial has been recognized once again as one of the world’s leading companies in sustainability by Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB). This prestigious index, which is compiled in collaboration with managers of investments in listed companies around the world, is the first to focus exclusively on the infrastructure sector.
Ferrovial’s rating is a reflection of its solid environmental, social and economic performance. Ferrovial achieved the highest overall rating — “A” — making it the highest rated Spanish company and the tenth highest in the world. The company stood out especially for its performance in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, as well as for its commitment to stakeholders.
Sustainability continues to be one of the core values of the company’s strategy. For this reason, it has stepped up its Sustainability Strategy 2030, which hinges on three axes — environment, community and governance — and is aligned with the business strategy (the Horizon 24 plan). Ferrovial is the first company to certify its Sustainability Strategy in coherence with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), as audited by AENOR.
Its commitment to ESG goes beyond the sustainability factor. This is evidenced by Ferrovial’s Corporate Governance certification by AENOR, making it the first infrastructure company to receive this distinction. The company also carries out social initiatives to ensure equal opportunities and it invests in the community through social programs that have improved the living standards of more than 558,000 people to date.
