Ferrovial has been selected for the construction of the Oural Tunnel in Lugo, Spain for 50,7 million euros. The work has been awarded by Adif is part of the modernization projects of the Ourense-Monforte de Lemos-Lugo railway corridor to improve the state of the infrastructure and increase the reliability of the lines and the quality of the service.
In addition to the construction of a new 1.8-kilometer tunnel that will run parallel to the existing one, the works include three emergency galleries that will connect both infrastructures. The tunnel will have catenary, signaling and communications systems adapted to the new projected solution, ventilation system and civil protection systems, as well as telecommunications installations and two areas for auxiliary installations.
The works are expected to take a total of 30 months.
