Ferrovial Services reinforces its industrial waste business with the acquisition of Biotran

The operation widens the company’s offer to the industrial services market and reinforces its commitment to technological innovation.

Ferrovial Services has acquired 100% of Biotran, a company which specialises in the integral management of pharmaceutical sector waste. Biotran – with a workforce of 60 employees – achieved sales of €8.6 million in 2015. The company carries out waste collection, transport and treatment. Thanks to this operation, Ferrovial Services widens its offer in the industrial services market.

Biotran, founded in 1988, has an extensive client portfolio, as well as facilities in strategic locations throughout Spain: Madrid, Tudela de Duero, Plasencia, Lliça de Vall and Puertollano.

Latest waste recovery technology

Biotran’s assets include the only mechanical waste treatment plant in Spain equipped to recover energy from pharmaceutical waste, as well as modern transfer centres equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and technology for waste treatment and recovery.

The company’s investment in technological innovation has led to the integration of cutting-edge technological solutions that respect the environment, incorporating the best solution available in the market which guarantees zero waste to their clients. As well as this, the company has a monitoring system that allows producers of waste to track its whereabouts at all times.
